"Spirit of Vincennes Rendezvous" (Living History Event) - French Commons, Vincennes

When: 5/25/2013 to 5/26/2013 9:00AM to 5:00PM

Take a step back in time and surround yourself with the sights, smells, sounds and tastes of the American Revolutionary War period during the Spirit of Vincennes Rendezvous held at the French Commons (w/15+ acres of parking). Saturday hours are 9:00am - 6:00pm and Sunday, 10:00am - 5:00pm (EDT) of Memorial Day weekend. Enjoy authentic food prepared over open fires and browse through merchant tents that offer goods relative to the time period. A continuous line up of entertainment is offered and varies from year to year including battle re-enactments, period music, jugglers, fire eaters, story tellers, oxen demonstrations and more. *Battles will be held Saturday at 1:00pm and 4:00pm. *Sunday battles are at 12:00pm and 3:30pm. Gate admission: Single-Day Adult Pass, $8.00; Children 6-12 years, $2.00 and children 12 and under; 2-day Adult Pass, $9.00 and children under 5 years are FREE. *Advance button passes (good for both days) will be available for $7.00/each at all Vincennes area financial institutions, Vincennes/Knox Co. Convention & Visitors Bureau and the Knox County Chamber of Commerce. A shuttle service to the historic sites will be available to those wearing button passes. Beginning your genealogical research can seem like a daunting task, which is why the Indiana State Library is hosting a unique event to help Hoosiers discover with their family history. Genealogy for Night Owls is a chance to get one-on-one assistance from experts from the State Library and the State Archives. The event will include opportunities to build your own family tree, library orientation and collection tours, Ask-An-Expert sessions, door prizes, and more!

In addition to expert advice on conducting genealogy research, award-winning, self-published author John Pesta will be on hand to offer advice and tips about publishing your family history.
