Territorial Guard Society of Indiana

In honor of the bicentennial of the War of 1812 (occurring in 2012) and the bicentennial of Indiana statehood (occurring in 2016), the Indiana Genealogical Society is proud to announce the creation of a new lineage society, the Territorial Guard Society of Indiana. If you are an Indiana Genealogical Society member who is a direct descendant of someone who lived within the boundaries of present-day Indiana on or before December 11, 1816 (the date of Indiana statehood), you are eligible to apply for membership in the Territorial Guard Society of Indiana.

Prospective members must fill out the Application Form, include the documentation proving their descendancy and submit the application fee. Applications for the inaugural membership class will be accepted beginning January 1, 2011. The inaugural membership class will be inducted April 2012 at the IGS annual conference in Fort Wayne.

Application materials of Territorial Guard Society of Indiana members will be stored at the Allen County Public Library in Fort Wayne.
